Projects

Carcow - Car Search Chrome Extension

Sept 2022 — Present (May 2023 End Date)

For my senior design project, me and my friends Abdulla Almayoof and Dakharai Murray developed a car search Chrome extension. Our app allows the user to find the best deal on the internet by scraping the top car websites using the dynamic scraping algorithm then it will rate each car based on the users preferences and show the top deals on the extension.

The dynamic scraping algorithm will account for changes in the html trees of the websites as well as new websites that emerge by identifying car data in each website using a complex set of regular expressions, so the algorithm will be able to scrape any additional car website without changes made to the app's code.

The rating algorithm will be based on user preferences and a machine learning dataset that how different car specs affect the price of each car. The user will decide what factors matter the most from: Price, Mileage, Trim, Color and Distance. The car will be rated based on each factor, then each factor would be weighed based on the user's preferences.

Implemented a Container Infrastructure for xv6 UNIX

Oct 2021 — Dec 2021

Our group of 3 other people implemented a Container Management System in xv6 for our Operating Systems class. Our implementation added different features to xv6: from containers to scheduling, to synchronization, to memory management, and to file systems. The system is compatible with Docker and allows for communication with it. Operations are scheduled using an O(1) priority scheduling matrix. We also implemented synchronization using mutex locks and conditional variables.

Class Registration Database System

Apr 2021 — May 2021

For our Database Systems class, I and my teammate implemented a website/database where teachers/administration can edit students' grades, and students can view them. It's a system designed to allow students to log in and register for classes, for teachers to be able to log in and edit/upload grades for students, and so on. It's a general-purpose registration system for any kind of university.
